Die Kleinstadt South Pasadena, zentral gelegen im West San Gabriel Valley, zählt aufgrund ihrer besonderen Atmosphäre zu den begehrtesten Orten Kaliforniens. Alljährlich verwandelt sich die Stadt im Zeitraum von April bis Mai in ein Farbenmeer aus Purpurtönen. Dafür sorgen rund 3.500 angepflanzte Jacaranda-Bäume mit ihrer Blütenpracht. Die Jacaranda-Bäume sind in den tropischen und subtropischen Regionen Südamerikas beheimat. Mit ca. 50 Arten ihrer Gattung zählen sie zur Familie der Trompetenbaumgewächse.
The town South Pasadena, centrally located in the West San Gabriel Valley, is due to its special atmosphere one of California’s most desirable locations. Every year the city transforms in the period of April until May into a blaze of colours from magenta tones. Approximately 3,500 cultivated Jacaranda trees with their bloom splendour ensure this. The Jacaranda trees are domiciled in the tropical and subtropical regions of South America. With approx. 50 types of their kind they rank among the family of the Bignoniaceae, or Trumpet Creeper Family.
